Call for 5-Minute Thesis (5MT) Presentations / Thesis Consortium – IEEE SIU 2025

We are excited to announce the 5-Minute Thesis (5MT) competition at the 33rd IEEE Conference on Signal Processing and Communications Applications (SIU 2025), taking place from June 25–28, 2025, at Işık University’s Şile Campus in Istanbul .

About the 5MT Competition

The 5MT competition challenges graduate students to present their thesis research in just five minutes, using a single static slide, to a non-specialist audience. This format helps students develop their academic, presentation, and research communication skills.

Eligibility

1. ●   Open to currently enrolled Master's and Ph.D. students, attending the conference with their papers.
2. ●   Research topics should align with SIU 2025's thematic areas, including:
1. ○   Communications and Networking
2. ○   Image Processing and Computer Vision
3. ○   Signal Processing and Applications
4. ○   Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
5. ○   Biomedical Signal/Image Processing and Applications.

Submission Guidelines

1. ●   Submit a 1-page abstract summarizing your thesis work.
2. ●   Include a brief biography (max 150 words).
3. ●   Submissions should be uploaded to https://forms.gle/LbYBeia6dtSoLZxR8

Presentation Details

1. ●   Selected participants will deliver a 5-minute oral presentation with one static PowerPoint slide. Time limit will be strictly enforced.
2. ●   Presentations will be judged on comprehension, content, engagement, and communication style.
3. ●   Winners will receive certificates and recognition during the conference closing ceremony.
4. ●   All applicants will also be considered for a Master’s / Doctoral Student Consortium. Selected participants will be given the opportunity to showcase their research work in a poster session where they will have the chance to receive feedback from peers, academics and industry.

1. ●   Submission Deadline: June 4, 2025, 23:59 IST Time
2. ●   Notification of Acceptance: June 10, 2025
3. ●   Competition/Presentation Date: During SIU 2025 (June 25–28, 2025)
